Adoption Counselling for Adopted Adults

I am a highly innovative and creative therapist, supervisor and trainer. I gained my experience in adoption through my work as a senior manager, training manager, counsellor and project manager at Post-Adoption Centre (PAC) www.postadoptioncentre.org.uk.

In addition I have provided therapeutic support to all parties to adoption in my private practice and am a founder member and Associate of ASART (Adoption Support Agency of Registered Therapists) www.adoptioncounselling.com. I am able to draw on a wide range of counselling and therapy approaches, and a great deal of experience and expertise, when I work with you.

Adopted Adults come to counselling for many reasons such as:

  • Relationships
  • Pre and post reunion guidance and support
  • Identity challenges
  • Intercountry adoption issues Lying and stealing
  • Struggles with ‘being’ in the world: maturity and taking responsibility

I will work with you on a 1:1 basis, long or short term, usually in weekly or bi-weekly sessions. I am also willing to work with you over the telephone or via email if appropriate. Because your relationships are likely to have been affected by adoption and because healing is most likely to occur through forming a well attached relationship, which face to face work promotes, these options may not be suitable.
